Robert Allen has been sculpting full-time since 2000 and has already secured commissions from several leading organizations including the Canary Wharf Group. In thematic terms Allen's work remains a synthesis- the product of keen observation wound around a core of personal experience and self-exploration. His creative process is driven by the assimilation of a range of disparate elements, including the human body and nature. Dealing in mainly figurative works that verge on abstraction, Robert Allen uses an economy of detail to inject a sense of monumentality and timelessness into his sculptures. He specializes in works that are subtly ambiguous in their interpretation, usually focusing on a multiplicity of concepts in one piece.
